Junction 18 off M4 Motorway To Bath:
- Exit the M4 Motorway at Junction 18 and follows signs to Bath.
- At large roundabout at bottom of hill head for Bath.
- Continue along main road (London Road). This will take you past Morrisons Supermarket and MultiYork Furniture store on left and an Esso Service station on the right. Once past the service station, get in the left hand lane and filter left at the main junction (signed “Through traffic, University”).
- This left turn will take you over the river (direction of A4 Bristol) and past the Fire Station (on your left). At the traffic lights turn right (signed “other routes and Bristol A4”).
- After a very short distance take a left turn at the Bathwick Hill roundabout (signed “University”).
- Go up the top of the very long hill, past the University, past Ralph Allen School and past the village of Combe Down. At the outskirts of Combe Down, at a mini- roundabout with a Tesco/Esso Garage, turn left (Frome B3110, Midford Road).
- Go past the Cross Keys pub on the left. Shortly after this there is a sharp bend. Take a right turn on the actual bend (at ZZ signs) – this is the Old Midford Road (white sign post).
- Follow the lane (ignore the left fork) and go around the U-bend – Southstoke House is on this part of the lane, about 5 or 6 houses along on the left. Southstoke House is marked on the post of the driveway (parking available).
Please do not knock at Southstoke House west wing (by roadway) – this is the wrong house.
From Bath:
- Up the Wellsway, filter left at top of hill, (B3110 Frome).
- Straight over the mini- roundabout with Tesco/Esso garage, then follow directions as above.
- From Bristol:
- On approaching Bath, at the Globe pub roundabout which is the junction of the A4 from Bristol and the A39 from Wells/Weston Super Mare, take the turning for Combe Down and follow this road without any turn offs until you get to the mini-roundabout with the Tesco/Esso Garage.
- At mini-roundabout with Tesco/Esso garage, turn right – follow road signposted Frome B3110 (Midford Road).
Go past the Cross Keys pub on the left. Shortly after this there is a sharp bend. Take a right turn on the actual bend (at ZZ signs), this is the Old Midford Road (white sign post). - Follow the lane (ignore left fork) and go around a U-bend, Southstoke House is on this part of the lane, about 5 or 6 houses along on the left. There is plenty of parking and Southstoke House is marked on the gate to the driveway.
From the South (A36):
- After Freshford and just after viaduct, turn left at the traffic lights (pub ‘Viaduct’ now closed) and up Brassknocker Hill.
- At the top of the hill, turn left at the mini-roundabout, go through the village of Combe down, At the outskirts of Combe Down, at a mini-roundabout with a Tesco/Esso Garage, turn left (Frome B3110, Midford Road).
- Go past the Cross Keys pub on the left. Shortly after this there is a sharp bend. Take a right turn on the actual bend (at ZZ signs), this is the Old Midford Road (white sign post)
